Cedar Rapids - Mary Clarine Snyder, 82 years old, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Independence, Iowa, died on Thursday, September 2, 2010, at the Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center in Cedar Rapids following a short illness. She was born on August 23, 1928, in Perry, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth Hiram and Clarine Adelaide (Fox) Young. She graduated from high school in Waukee, Iowa, and completed nurses training at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. On May 20, 1951, she and Marvin Lee Snyder were married in Waukee, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1977. Mrs. Snyder was a registered nurse at Peoples Memorial Hospital in Independence before retiring. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence and the Independence Garden Club. She enjoyed attending activities and playing cards at the Independence Senior Center and was a frequent volunteer with the Buchanan County Cancer Society.

Mrs. Snyder is survived by 3 daughters, Carol Osborne of Oelwein, Iowa, Janice (Terry) Studt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Diane (Ronald) Bushell of Lone Tree, Iowa, and 1 son, Steven (Lois) Snyder of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 brother, John “Jack” (Nancy) Young of Urbandale, Iowa, 1 sister, Peggy (Chuck) Dowler of Norwalk, Iowa, and 1 sister-in-law, Naomi Young of Des Moines, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Gerald Young.

Graveside Services were held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 6, 2010, at Wilson Cemetery in Independence with Rev. Scott Meador officiating. Zach Osborne, Matthew Osborne, Dannielle Osborne, Seth Studt, Katie Studt, Bethany Jauron, Leah Grunzweig, Jared Bushell, Ellie Bushell, Aimee Thomsen, Tessa Snyder, and Nicholas Snyder will be Honorary Pall Bearers.
