Independence – Robert F. Potts, 68 years old, of Waverly, Iowa, formerly of Independence, Iowa, died on Friday, December 26, 2014, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly.  He was born on May 31, 1946, in Independence, the son of Frank “Ted” Fitzgerald and Grace Helene (Hansen) Potts.  He graduated from high school in Independence with the Class of 1964 and he also graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls with a B.A. degree in accounting.  He retired in 2008 due to health issues.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #87 A.F. and A.M. in Independence.  Mr. Potts was also a ham radio operator and enjoyed reading and listening to public radio.

Mr. Potts is survived by his 3 sons, Andy (Hannah) Potts of Atalissa, Iowa, Ian (Melissa) Potts of Hazleton, Iowa, and Michael Potts of Wellman, Iowa, and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Thomas Potts, 1 brother, Donald Potts, and his partner, Mary Hamilton.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at the White Funeral Home in Independence with Rev. John Hougen officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.  Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29^th, at the funeral home.
