Private family gathering will be held at a later date. Veronica Jane King was born April 15, 1944, the daughter of Joseph Alan King and Alice May (Gardner) King. She attended school in Waterloo and graduated from East High School with the class of 1961. Vicky interned at Allen Hospital in Waterloo and took classes to obtain certifications throughout her 32-year career with Allen Hospital. She worked in all facets of the hospital, including activities coordinator, social work, pediatrics aid, and burn unit aid. On August 8, 1964, she was united in marriage to Robert DuWayne Sprague at St. John Catholic Church in Waterloo. Together they made their home in Waterloo before moving to rural Janesville, and eventually Independence in 1999. Together they owned and operated Sprague Rentals, now owned and operated by their sons, Robert and Joseph. Vicky was a generous and kind person. She was a social butterfly and loved to entertain. Vicky was strong, determined, and had a special grace about her, that allowed her to manage people in a way that made everyone feel good. She enjoyed square dancing and always made it a point to have family as her number one priority. Vicky was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo. She is survived by her two sons, Robert “Bob” (Enrique Mukul) Sprague of Chicago, Il, Joseph (Jennifer Kirkpatrick) Sprague of Independence; two grandchildren, Amber (Garrett Ley) Sprague, Ashly (Zachary) Pint, all of Independence; two great grandchildren, Maddison Pint and Jackson Pint; and several nieces and nephews. Vicky is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; one brother, Robert King; and three sisters, Helen Norman, Valetta Meier, and Josephine Smock.
