White Funeral Home
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Monday, February 23, 2026, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup. Burial will be at Old Barclay Cemetery, rural Jesup. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 pm, Sunday, February 22nd at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a Scripture Service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before the services Monday at the church. Jim was born July 29, 1943, in Cedar Falls, IA, the son of Andrew Paul Winters and Angeline Barbara (Blong) Winters. His primary education was in the Janesville Community Schools. On September 4, 1961, he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Marcussen at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Evansdale, IA. The couple enjoyed 61 years together and were members of the Jesup Community for over 45 years. Jim was a tool and die maker at John Deere in Waterloo before retirement. He also owned and operated Winters Body Shop. Even after he closed this business, Jim spent many years repairing vehicles. He loved to stay busy in his shop and working outdoors. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the Mississippi, hunting and fishing. He still holds the world record for the largest Black Buffalo fish, which was caught in 1999. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 838 in Waterloo. Jim is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Sharon Winters of Jesup, Chris and Billie Winters of Fayette, IA; 5 grandchildren, Christopher (Amanda) Winters, Beau (Mary) Winters, Brock (Brenna) Winters, Bryce (Miranda) Winters, Allison (Evan) Suckow; five great grandchildren, Theodore Winters, Blake Winters, Natalie Winters, Marlee Winters, Cooper Suckow. He was also looking forward to the arrival of another great grandchild in April. Also surviving are five brothers, Richard (Peg) Winters, Charles Winters, Andrew (Darlene) Winters, William (Julie) Winters, David Winters; three sisters, Dorothy Ehlert, Gloria (Kenny) Kibbee, Cindy (Darrel) Maines; and two sisters-in-law, Janice (Jim) Schmit and Elfriede “Friede” (Henry) Jones. In addition to his wife Carol, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Winters; one brother-in-law, Michael Marcussen; and two sisters-in-law, Judy Winters and Patricia Winters.
