Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. - Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Barclay Presbyterian Church in rural Dunkerton. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, Iowa. Visitation will continue for an hour before services, Friday, at the church. Sheryl was born June 13, 1945, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Morris O. Adams and Pearl C. (Rose) Adams. She attended school in Dunkerton, Iowa, and graduated with the class of 1963. On July 17, 1964, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Allen John Wallace. They made their home in California during Allen's time in the Navy and moved home to the Dunkerton area when his service time had ended. After the untimely death of Allen in May of 1970, Sheryl moved to Waterloo. Through hard work and determination, Sheryl created a successful career in the life insurance industry with MetLife Insurance Company. She retired in 2010 after 40+ years with the company. She won multiple insurance business awards during her time, and later in her career, trained the next generation, passing on her knowledge and passion. She was an active member of the Barclay Presbyterian Church, where she was involved in the women’s group and especially enjoyed sharing her musical talents as a pianist, choir member, and bell choir member. Sheryl loved to be with people. She enjoyed getting together with friends and playing different games, including her favorite dice game, Farkle. She also loved getting together with her Wednesday morning breakfast group and often stayed in touch with her classmates. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and made countless memories over the years. Sheryl is survived by her nephew Kevin (Diana) Kern and their daughter, Danielle Kern, all of Hayden, Idaho; her late husband’s family, Rich (Nan) Wallace, Kathy (Dan) Weiland, and Julie Christiansen; three step-brothers, Douglas (Candy) Smith, Calvin (Denise) Smith, Larry (Christine) Smith; three step brothers – in – law, Alen Nagel, Wayne Mager, and Scott Pettit. Sheryl is preceded in death by her husband, Allen Wallace; her parents; step-mother Edith (Nye) Smith Adams; one sister, Charlene Kern; nephew, Scott Kern; her late husband’s parents, Clifford & Virginia Wallace; his brother, Wayne Wallace; and nephew Christopher Wallace; three step-sisters, Rebecca Nagel, Lora Mager, and Lela Pettit. Memorials may be directed to the church. |
