White Funeral Home
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. – Monday, January 5, 2026, at the White Funeral Home, Independence, with burial to follow at the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Independence. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time, Monday, at the funeral home. Karen was born October 9, 1951, in Independence, the daughter of Marvin John Fagle and Kathleen Carrie (Eicke) Fagle. She attended school in Winthrop, Iowa, and graduated from East Buchanan High School with the class of 1970. On May 12, 1970, she was united in marriage to Raymond Charles Fowlkes. She was a homemaker as the couple traveled around the country with Raymond’s Navy career. The couple later divorced. Later in life, Karen worked at Tyson Foods in Waterloo, Iowa, and made her home in Quasqueton. Karen loved to be with her friends and family. She had fond memories of spending time at the Gayla Ballroom in Independence. She loved to roller skate, dance, go for walks – and she always found time for a Pepsi and a Hershey bar. Karen is survived by her son, Ronald Fowlkes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughters, Rhonda (Dan) Hekel of Vinton, Iowa, Wanda (George) Hinshaw of Garrison, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one brother, Floyd (Eileen) Fagle of Oelwein, Iowa; two sisters, Carol Conerd of Winthrop, Iowa, Rose (Tom) King of Quasqueton, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Delores Fagle of Fayette, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Marcus Fowlkes; one brother, Dwaine Fagle; one sister, Regina Kolthoff; and one brother-in-law, Earl Conerd.
