Graveside services will be 4:00 p.m. – Friday, January 2, 2026, at Zion Lutheran – Jubilee Cemetery, rural La Porte City, IA. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. - Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Online condolences may be posted at www.White-MtHope.com. Maurice was born March 30, 1928, in Black Hawk County, IA, the son of Arthur Charles Hoppe and Bertha Vivian (McCleery) Hoppe. Following his education, he served with the Second Division Combat Engineers in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. On August 31, 1969, he was united in marriage to MaryLou Otteman at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Newell, IA. Maurice worked in agri-business, marketing grain. Before retirement he had worked as manager of the Greenley Elevator in Jesup, the Jesup Cooperative and later worked at Fertilizer Dealer Supply. He was a member of Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342, Jesup Lions Club, and a former member of the American Lutheran Church in Jesup, also a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. He was currently a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church, Rochester, MN. Maurice is survived by one daughter, Krista Strum of Rochester, MN; one son, Jason (Laurie) Hoppe of Canal Fulton, OH; four grandchildren, Katherine Strum, Laure Strum, Aiden Hoppe, Benjamin Hoppe; one brother, Allen (Hilda) Hoppe of Charlotte, NC; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna and Michael Buse of Houston, TX. In addition to his wife, MaryLou, his parents and one sister, Ione Williams and brother-in-law, Roger Williams, preceded him in death. White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, is in charge of the arrangements. |
