Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. – Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Calvary Evangelistic Center in Independence, Iowa. Burial will follow at the Rowley Cemetery, Rowley, Iowa. Military Honors will be accorded by the Independence VFW Post 2440 assisted by the United States Air Force. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Monday, at the church. Donald was born June 13, 1945, in Independence, Iowa, the son of Verle Glen Kimmerle and Mary Jane (Kidd) Kimmerle. He grew up on the family farm outside of Rowley, Iowa, and attended school in Independence, graduating from Jefferson High School with the class of 1963. He served in the United States Air Force before returning home to work with his father on the family farm. On August 14, 1976, he married Karen Margaret Cook. They would later divorce. Don worked as a maintenance worker at the Wapsie Valley Creamery in Independence for more than 35 years before he retired. Don was a charter member of the Calvary Evangelistic Center in Independence. His faith was strong and his love for his church and its members was felt throughout the congregation. He truly was a “Faithful Man of God.” Don is survived by his son, Ronald Kimmerle; three sisters, Pauline (Robert) Goldsberry, Phyllis (Jon) Mick, Joan Rowland; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Maren Kimmerle; one brother, Glenn Kimmerle; and his former wife, Karen. Memorials may be directed to the family.
