Jesup – Catherine C. Willwerth, 89 years old and formerly of Jesup and Fairbank, Iowa, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Prairie Hills Assisted Living, Independence, IA.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Friday, April 27, 2018, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with inurnment in the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a parish rosary at 4:00 p.m. and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., Thursday.  Visitation will continue for an hour before services at the church on Friday.  Memorials will be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice and Prairie Hills Assisted Living.

Catherine was born October 2, 1928, at Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Anton Damisch and Marie (Riepl) Damisch.  She graduated from Tama High School and then attended business school for one year.  On March 1, 1949, she was united in marriage to Donald Eugene Willwerth at St. Patrick’s Church, Tama, IA.  They moved to a farm south of Fairbank in 1958 and then to town in Jesup in 1992.  Catherine was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup.

She is survived by five daughters, Rebecca (James F.) Hogan of Monticello, Donna (Earl) Mitchell of Manchester, Evelyn Willwerth of Waterloo, Helen (Jay) Proffitt of Solon, Patty (Ken) Collins of Center Point; two sons Andy (Cris) Willwerth of Fairbank and Tom (Deb) Willwerth of Sabula; also 17 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren, plus one on the way.  Her parents; husband (Donald); one granddaughter (Angela Hogan); three brothers, Anton "Tony" Damisch, Jr., Charles "Chuck" Damisch, Sr., and Francis Rudolph Damisch; and three sisters, Joan, Ann and Mary, preceded her in death
