Jesup – Leola Arlene Temeyer, 96, died Friday, April 20, 2018, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center - East Campus, Independence, Iowa, of natural causes.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA, with burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence, IA.  Military rites will be conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup.  Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 23rd at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Jesup.

Leola was born to parents Irvin and Clara (Miller) Williams in De Soto, Iowa, on October 8, 1921.  When she was about 3-1/2 yrs old, she and her family moved to Dunkerton, Iowa.  She attended schools in the Dunkerton area.  Leola graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1938.   After high school she worked various administrative jobs in the Jesup and Waterloo area.

In 1944, she entered the United States Navy.  She attended Basic Training at Hunter College in New York and Shopkeeper Training in Georgia.  She was then stationed in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania as a Purchasing Agent, until she was discharged from the Navy. In 2010, Leola enjoyed participating in an Honor Flight to Washington, DC.

On December 8, 1946 Leola married the love of her life, Harold Floyd Temeyer, in Jesup, Iowa.  They farmed in the Jesup area for all their married life.  They were married for 54-1/2 yrs before Harold’s passing in 2001.  They raised seven (7) children and had six (6) grandchildren.

Leola is survived by six sons, Arthur of Toledo, Iowa; Floyd (Carol Weineke) of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; Kevin (Dan Beatty) of Boerne, Texas; Rodney (Louise Fagen) of Granger, Iowa; Tom (Charlene) of Franksville, Wisconsin; Vance (Jan) of Ankeny, Iowa; and one daughter Vicki (J. T.) Crofts of New York, New York; six grandchildren and one brother, Roger Williams (Belle Boyer) of Jesup, Iowa.

Leola was preceded in death by her parents; husband (Harold); and two sisters, Carol Temeyer and Frances Ramsey.
