Independence – Mildred “Millie” May Wilson Freeman passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the age of one hundred years and 10 months.  She was born on May 18, 1917, to Jay and Nellie Cottrell Wilson in rural Buchanan County, Iowa.  On August 21, 1938, she married Hubert J. Freeman in Independence.  She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church.  Millie passed away at the ABCM West Campus in Independence where she had resided for the past 8.5 years.

Millie is survived by 2 nephews, Larry Goss and David Wilson, 6 nieces, Debbie Hoover, Sandra Devine, Barbara Nelson, Luanne Meader, Florence Chesmore, and Judy Aller, and 1 brother-in-law, Jack (J.J.) Freeman of Florence, Mississippi.  Also surviving are relatives and caregivers, Marilyn and Harold Freeman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert, her parents, 3 brothers, Elmer, Lester, and Robert Wilson, 1 sister, Blanche Goss, 1 nephew, Donald Wilson, and 1 niece, Phyllis Hacket.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018, at the White Funeral Home in Independence where friends may call for visitation from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 18th.  Visitation will continue on Monday for an hour before services.  Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Independence, or mailed to P.O.
