Dunkerton – Randy Allen Reed, 56 years old of Dunkerton, IA, died Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, IA, after a short illness.

Randy was born August 6, 1960, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Richard Allen Reed and Donna Lee (Bixby) Reed.  On May 19, 1979, he and Jayne Kay Bartholomew were united in marriage in Dunkerton. They made their home in Dunkerton, were Randy was a certified welder and member of Ironworkers Local #89 of Cedar Rapids, IA. He was also a member of the Dunkerton Sportsman’s Club.

Randy loved to be outdoors. He liked to snowmobile, fish, and just be on the river. Randy also liked to tinker in the garage on his many projects, which included restoring cars, tractors, and boats. He liked to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes, Denver Broncos, and NASCAR. Family was important to Randy, and he loved his grandchildren dearly. He will be remembered as a generous soul that was willing to help anybody.

Randy is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jayne Reed of Dunkerton; two sons, Josh (Aubin) Reed of Dunkerton, and Jeremiah “Miah” (Tammy) Reed of Raymond, IA; seven grandchildren, Jayden, Jayce, Paytin, Alana, Emma, Bella, and Hailey; his parents, Richard “Dick” and Donna Reed of Lansing, IA; one brother, Rodney (Vicki) Reed of Waterloo, IA; one sister, Robin (Kenny) Etringer of Dunkerton, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles & Mildred Reed, and Donald & Mildred Bixby; and one nephew, Alex Etringer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the First Baptist Church, Dunkerton, IA. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, at the First Baptist Church, Dunkerton, IA, and will continue an hour before services at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to the family.
