Independence – Jean V. Seemann, 90 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at ABCM Rehab Center of Independence – West Campus, in Independence.  She was born on January 1, 1927, in Fairfax, Iowa, the daughter of Ernst and Marie (Froelich) Andersen.  She attended the Jubilee Lutheran School in rural LaPorte City, Iowa.  On December 3, 1950, she and Earl Elmer Seemann were married at the Zion Lutheran Church – Jubilee in rural LaPorte City.  He preceded her in death in 1979. Mrs. Seemann was an assembly person at Micro Switch in Independence and Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  At other times she worked at the Independence Middle School, the Wapsipinicon Golf Course, the Wood Duck Inn, Wapsie Valley Creamery, and Corn Blossom.  After she retired, she enjoyed time spent putting together puzzles.  She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence.

Mrs. Seemann is survived by 1 son, Allan (Janice) Seemann of Independence, Iowa, 2 daughters, Marlys (Robert) Bitterman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Nancy (Mike) Shaffer of Winthrop, Iowa, 6 grandsons, Brian (Angela) Seemann, Tim (Kim) Seemann, Michael (Tara) Bitterman, Clint (Mandi) Bitterman, Justin (Alyssa) Shaffer, and Eric (Allison) Shaffer, 9 great grandchildren, Cameron Seemann, Trenton Seemann, Lydia Bitterman, Holly Bitterman, Lily Bitterman, Bo Bitterman, Eddie Shaffer, Sadie Shaffer, and Tate Shaffer, and 1 sister, Christine Bierschenk of Vinton, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Ruth Huck and Hedwig Dillon, and 1 brother, Ernest Andersen.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence with Rev. Greg DeBoer officiating.  Burial will be in Rowley Cemetery in Rowley, Iowa.  Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m.until 7 p.m. on Monday, April 17th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
