Independence – Sheryl R. Weltzin, 63 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Sunday, January 1, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  She was born on June 4, 1953, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Louis Carl and Violet Goldie (Sommerfelt) Weltzin.  She graduated from high school in Jesup, Iowa, and then, completed the course of study at L’James Cosmetology in Waterloo, Iowa.  She was a clerk at Kwik Star for 25 years before retiring in 2016.  Ms. Weltzin enjoyed sewing and made clothing for herself and others.  She also enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren, working puzzles, baking, and coloring.

Ms. Weltzin is survived by 2 sons, Jeremy (DeAnna) Blad and Jesse (Alexandra) Blad, both of Waterloo, Iowa, and 2 daughters, Jennifer (Jamie) Adkins of Swan, Iowa, and Jillian (Robert) Schares of Independence, 17 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by 2 brothers, Darrell (Barb) Weltzin of DeWitt, Iowa, and Glen (Mary) Weltzin of Rockbridge, Ohio, 1 sister, Arleen (Steve) Block of Waterloo, and her special friend, Steve Brown of Dunkerton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 grandson, Hunter Blad, and 1 granddaughter, Bryar Gaede.

Friends may come for visitation from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at the White Funeral Home inIndependence where a time of sharing begins at 5 p.m.
