La Porte City – Lora Lee Schares, 61 of Livingston, Texas and formerly of La Porte City, IA, died Monday, May 9, 2016 at her home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. – Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, IA, with burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Gilbertville.  Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Friday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a Parish Rosary at 5:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue for an hour before services Saturday at the church.  Memorials will be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilbertville.

Lora was born January 26, 1955, in Black Hawk County, IA, the daughter of Melvin Anthony Schares, Sr. and Norma Lena (Weber) Schares.  She graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1973.  She continued her education and received a degree in Radiology Technology and most recently worked at Methodist Hospital, Houston, TX.  She had also worked at chemical plants in Texas.  She enjoyed motor cycles, gardening, loved flowers, quilting and puzzles.

Lora is survived by three sisters, Deb (Gary) Jacobsen of Jesup, IA, Doris Schares of Marion, IA, Judy Schares of Waterloo, IA; three brothers, John (Karla) Schares of Jesup, IA, Scott Schares of Independence, IA, Roger (Julie) Schares of Jesup, IA; and one sister in law, Dot (Rod) Maudlin of Eddyville, IA.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Schares, Sr. and Norma Schares; also two brothers, Cleo P. Schares and Melvin A. Schares, Jr.
