Jesup – Clifford E. Knudsen, 86 years old of Jesup, IA, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the La Porte City Nursing & Rehab Center in La Porte City, IA.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. – Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Independence, IA, with Pastor Greg L. DeBoer officiating.  Burial will be at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, IA, with Military Rites conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post #342 of Jesup.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday May 15th at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.  Memorials will be directed to area nursing homes.

Clifford Eugene Knudsen, was born July 26, 1928, in Cedar Falls, IA, the son of Hans Edward Knudsen and Alma Marie (Larsen) Knudsen.  He graduated from Dunkerton High School in Dunkerton, IA.  From 1951 – 1953 he served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  On May 22, 1955, he and Nancy Carolyn Cory were united in marriage at the First Presbyterian Church in Jesup, IA.  They farmed in the Jesup and Elkader areas until retirement.  They spent a few years in Wisconsin and then returned to Jesup.  They enjoyed camping, traveling, wintering in Texas, and spending time with the grandchildren later in life.  Clifford had served as a 4-H leader; had served on the church council and also served many years on the Black Hawk County Soil Conservation Board.  He was a member of Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 in Jesup and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence.

Mr. Knudsen is survived by three sons, Mark (Linda) Knudsen of Jesup, Dan (Lynda) Knudsen of Ft. Collins, CO, and John (Dana) Knudsen of Peterson, MN; also three grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and one sister, Gloria Siggelkov of Waverly, IA.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy on December 4, 2010, he is also preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister, Ada; and one infant brother, Alan.
