Independence – Edith M. Forsythe, 80 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Saturday, November 8, 2013, at ABCM Rehab.Independence – West, in Independence.  She was born on September 27, 1934, in Independence, the daughter of Glenn and Bertha Caroline (Quinn) Frank.  She graduated from St. John’s Catholic School in Independence.  On January 31, 1950, she and Donald “Dutch” Richard Forsythe, Sr. were married in Dunkerton, Iowa.  He preceded her in death in 2014.  Mrs. Forsythe worked at the Independence Produce Co., the Maid Rite, Blakesley’s Cleaners, and Connie’s Hallmark.  She retired in 2004.  She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s ballgames, holiday cooking, and collecting pens and pencils, Hallmark ornaments, and Barbie dolls. She also enjoyed time spent at area casinos.

Mrs. Forsythe is survived by 1 daughter, Sandra (John) Sherbon of Waterloo, Iowa, 1 son, Don (Sharon) Forsythe, Jr., of Jesup, Iowa, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Darlene Rausch of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 infant daughters, Jo Anne and Julie Ann Forsythe, and 3 sisters, Mary Wagner, Dorothy Walton, and Carolyn Buchholz.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at the White Funeral Home in Independence with Jeff Hanson officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.  Friends may call for visitation from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11^th, at the funeral home.
