Independence – Juanita L. Widner, 79 years old, of rural Independence, Iowa, died on Friday, September 12, 2014, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.  She was born on October 3, 1934, in Nashua, Iowa, the daughter of Elton Herbert and Florence Anna (Hollar) Baldwin.  She attended school in Nashua.  On June 7, 1952, she and Jack Franklin Widner, Sr., were married in Rock Island, Illinois.  He preceded her in death in 2011.  Mrs. Widner cared for her family and enjoyed time spent gardening, knitting, and crocheting.  She also was a carpenter and liked to build things.

Mrs. Widner is survived by 3 daughters, Muriel (Kenny) Peterson of Hayfield, Minnesota, Cindy Widner of Independence, Iowa, and Lorrie Parker of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and 3 sons, Jack (Marsha) Widner, Jr., of Waverly, Iowa, Dale (Nancy) Widner of Waterloo, Iowa, and Clarence (Sherry) Widner of Hazleton, Iowa.  She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, and 1 sister, Barbara Morgan of Tampa, Florida.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Wesley W. Widner, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
