Jesup – Dean Roger Lauritzen, 69 years old of Jesup, IA died Friday, June 15, 2012, at his home. He was born June 8, 1943, in Spring Grove, MN, the son of Edwin Lauritzen and Mary (Strupp) Lauritzen. On December 1, 1962, he was united in marriage to Cynthia Dee Carrier in Houston, MN. The couple moved to Jesup in 1963 upon Dean’s hiring at John Deere, where he was a welder until his retirement.

Dean was a faithful Christian and was a charter member of Freedom Baptist Church in Independence, IA, serving as a deacon and treasurer over the years. He was a kind, hardworking man who could fix anything. He also liked spending his time outdoors, camping, boating, snowmobiling, and watching dirt track races.  Most of all Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.

Mr. Lauritzen is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cynthia; 5 sons, Robert (Mary) Lauritzen of Ghana, Africa; Rick (Beth) Lauritzen of Campbellsville, KY; Ryan (Tammy) Lauritzen of Oelwein, IA; Ronn (Kim) Lauritzen of Jesup, IA; Reese (Sarah) Lauritzen of Waterloo, IA; 6 daughters, Deana (Shane) Thorpe of Clover, SC; Deea Lauritzen of Jesup, IA; Dana (Bryan) McCombs of Dysart, IA; Dane’e Velez of Jesup, IA; Darcy Lauritzen of Jesup, IA; and Deedra (Philip) Fisher of Campbellsville, KY; 40 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 2 brothers, Elden (Nancy) Lauritzen of Martinsville, IL; Dale (Lois) Lauritzen of Winona, MN; 2 sisters, Joyce Borchert, Manhattan, IL; and Debbie (Douglas) Hopkins of Austin, TX.

Mr. Lauritzen was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son, Charles Roger Lauritzen in infancy.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. – Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Jesup Bible Fellowship, Jesup, IA, with burial at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, IA. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2012, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
