Jesup- Beth Nicole Schima, 36 years old of Hiawatha, IA, and formerly of Jesup, IA, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, IA, following a lengthy cancer illness.

She was born December 6, 1974, in Ames, IA, the daughter of Gary William Schima and Arlene Ann (Smock) Schima. Following graduation from Jesup High School, she attended Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, IA. Beth began working at Pizza Hut in Independence before taking a job as a cake decorator at Econo Foods in Waterloo. She then worked five years at Blands Flower Shop in Independence and then at Flowerama in Waterloo. Most recently Beth has been a Floral Designer at Peck’s Flower & Garden Shop in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Beth is survived by two daughters, Taylor Schima-Lammers of Cedar Rapids, Nicole Ryan of Hiawatha; one son, Connor Ryan, of Hiawatha; her parents, Arlene and Gary Schima of Jesup, IA; one brother, Robert Schima of Minneapolis, MN; and her fiancé, Chris Bauer of Springfield, MO. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Dorothy and Leo Schima; maternal grandparents, Irene and John Smock; and her Uncle, E. J. Smock.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. – Monday, May 2, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church, Jesup, IA, with Rev. Kristy Parker officiating. Burial was at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, IA. Memorials will be directed to the American Cancer Society.
